Won in an international competition, David Loughlin was a design architect for Sir Terry Farrell on the Ground Transportation Centre (GTC) for Incheon Airport in collaboration with DMJM and Samoo Architects. The brief was for a building to house five rail systems, including: intercity, airport express and light-rail networks serving nearby towns, cities and remote airport hubs, a bus and coach station as well as taxi bays and car parks.
A freestanding structure between two passenger terminals, the six-storey building is the airport’s primary transport interchange facility. The Transport Centre design is passenger centered and all the components are strategically positioned to allow the seamless transition from one mode of transport to another.
