An 18th Century Grade II listed town house in central Henley-on-Thames, sympathetically converted into two town houses.

Context

An 18th Century Grade II listed town house in central Henley-on-Thames, with a client requirement to be sympathetically converted into two town houses. The restoration and alteration work had to meet strict controls from English Heritage and the local authority while providing contemporary living accommodation.

Response

The beautifully proportioned silver grey brick and red quoined façade was carefully restored, along with careful window refurbishment and extensive alterations to the rear of the property to provide two new townhouses. Use of Lime based interior plasters and traditionally mixed paints with techniques that were sympathetic to the fabric of the original building. The interiors were designed to contrast the old with the new and provide light into the property through the addition of a modern glazed addition.
